Pat,
What do you think your gaining by running a compression test?
Wiring and possibly a fire damaged starter will usually not allow this to be performed. Internal engine damage resulting in a fire are usually catastrophic in nature and easily recognized. Usually this will result in an additional inspection after the engine is torn down.
