Well you may be able to with a jump box off the starter but that depends on damages to the motor. They make a compression kit that you can hook up to each cylinder and it will tell you as you rotate the engine over what PSI it is reading. But usually you just check the oil if no oil look for holes in block then find out why no oil did it leak or just not cared for etc.
