Broan bathroom vent fans

Anyone encounter Broan bathroom vent fans that caught fire. Found a model 669 that was made in the 70's, this fire occurred in the fan in the ceiling. The manufacturer states the fan is maintenance free type fan. I did check the other fans in the same residence to find the fan, fan blades and housing covered with lint. Occupant stated the fan was off and not running at the time of the fire.
Just curious to see if anyone else has ran across these fans in the past.
