A prime example of such includes all of the myths that were identified in NFAP 921 that were based on observation and experience that were shown to be scientifically unreliable based on the application of science. It was not because the science was deficient, it was because fire investigators were ignorant of the fundamentals of fire behavior and scientific methods in general.
