Fire Investigation Unit Standard

The following is text from correspondence from the NFPA. It appears they are in process of developing a standard for the development in operation for fire investigation units or companies. Is my understanding that this will directly relate to the organization of such a unit our company and not specifically to the qualifications of the individuals working in the company. The standard for the persons conducting the investigation will still be NFPA 1033. The methodology for conducting the investigation will still be found in NFPA 921. Basically, this will cover such things as policies and procedures for the unit or company.
The Standard Council for the NFPA has approved the request to develop a project addressing the organization an operation of a fire investigation unit (FIU). Although the Standards Council approved the project, they advised the Staff of NFPA to advertise for additional members. This project didn’t receive applications, but not sufficient applications to seat a balance committee. Once a balance propose roster has been achieved, the roster can be brought back to the Council for further direction.
It is my understanding they are looking for more public agency involvement.
