My May newsletter, “Sifting the Ashes,” is up on the website www.firescientist.com. Anyone can download the PDF.

This month's newsletter describes some groundbreaking research by Underwriters Laboratories Fire Safety Research Institute, and contains a link to a 300+ page report on the effects of ventilation, as well as links to all of the full-scale fire experiments that were conducted.

This month's case study goes back a long way, but still contains lessons that are relevant today. It also tells the story of how we finally figured out how to tell the difference between asphalt smoke residue and heavy petroleum distillates.

As always, feedback on the newsletter is welcomed.
