My first reaction when I read a clause that says that the report is based on facts / information available to the writer at the time the report is written is: "DUH!!" How do you base a report on information that might become available next week? Why not add a statement that says that the methodology is based on the current edition of NFPA 921 and not the 2021 edition or future / subsequent editions?

I have seen a number of "expert testimony" books that recommend the use of the terms "scientific" or "engineering" certainty. I emailed one of the authors and included the National Commission on Forensic Science's paper on the terminology. No response back.
