Cummins b6.7 turbodiesel fire

Got one of these in a Ferrari hauler (small truck used to haul containers about a harbour)
with fire impingement on it's left 'cold' flank (as apposed to the right 'hot'
flank with exhaust manifold & turbo).

'Cold' flank has the ECU (front-left) above two fuel filters (water trap & fuel-)
with the rear-left having the fuel pump located below the air compressor (for pneumatics) and the common rail running along the left-top (checks out OK).
Fire impingement most [pronounced on the left offset forward (i.e. near the fuel filters; their rubber hoses gone).

So I have a fuel load, but no ignition source.

Maintenance staff pointed out other Ferrari haulers where the pipe from the air compressor is practically blocked;
some rudimentary field tests show these running above 120C/250F (not hot enough to ignite diesel)
with signs of the braided rubber hoses perishing (i.e. potential of high-pressure air leak).
I noticed some oil (engine oil leaking from worn air compressor?) in some exemplar air pipes, so (with a high-pressure air leak) we might get a combustible cloud
although this hypothesis needs some fleshing out with real-world data (e.g. quantities of oil).

Anybody encounter something similar?
