After skipping 2019 due to a staff retirement, the Fire & Materials conference is again to be held in San Francisco, in early 2021 (Feb. 1-3, 2021). The venue will be the same as previous, the Fisherman's Wharf Hyatt hotel. The conference will again feature a session on fire investigation/fire forensics.

This early announcement is being circulated to get folks thinking about submitting a paper proposal to the conference. The deadline for submissions of paper extended abstracts is June 1, 2020.

For the details on the conference and the Call for Papers, please see: [www.linkedin.com]
Practical details--registration and hotel information--will be circulated later.

The conference is one of the few places in the U.S. where research on fire investigation topics is addressed in detail. Plus, there are opportunities to interact with researchers studying fire dynamics, flammability of materials, and other topics of interest to fire investigators. Please note that this is a research conference and not a training event. Thus, papers should present original content. Write-ups of the investigation of major losses or interesting fire cases certainly fall into that category. In fact, personally as one of the people serving on the Programme Committee, I very much welcome such topics, since there are way too few such papers published.
