I was part of an Innocence Project-review of this a few years back;
submitted my review, and have heard nothing since.

Arson-finding seemed largely based on the presence of kerosene inside the house,
but only in those samples taken after the place was hosed clean by the Fire Brigade
(samples taken before this cleanup strangely came back negative - same lab).
this despite the accused claiming he had a drum of the stuff in the livingroom for his kerosene heater.

The rest was the old fire-pattern charring indicative of pooled accelerant,
and an allegedly-locked (much disputed) laundry where the deceased was found.

The fact that Garrett was hardly an upstanding member of the community, did him no favours either...
