Different fire models. CFIcalculation are a suite of simple equations that represent individual fire-related phenomenon. FDS is a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model that incorporates calculations of some of the variables in CFIcalculator.
Your making assumptions about the models, what they are capable of estimating, and how they are reliably applied to a specific set of circumstances. A greater understanding of these fire models will help in your understanding of how and why NIST did what they did in the analysis of this fire incident.
