I am unaware of any reliable experiments that have shown that "pyrophoric carbon" is an actual phenomenon.

I am unaware of any reliable experiments that have shown wood is capable of self-heating to thermal runaway with dimensional lumber at these low temperatures.

All of the testing and theory assumes that the exposure temperature is constant. An alternative hypothesis is that the exposure temperature is not constant and increases by an insulating enclosure and increasing the trapped air that can increase in temperature.
