The Winter 2020 edition of "Sifting the Ashes" is now available at [www.firescientist.com].

This quarter's edition contains articles about standards development and the future of fire investigation. This month's case study emphasizes the importance of having a laboratory that knows how to tell the difference between asphalt and petroleum distillates as well as advice to avoid collecting samples containing asphalt. Links to stories about the Ghost Ship fire in Oakland, and the reconstruction of Notre Dame Cathedral are included.

As always, reader comments are welcome.
