POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Unified Investigations & Sciences (UIS), Inc., is a nationwide forensic engineering and investigations company that provides engineering and technical services to the insurance industry. We specialize in fire and explosion investigations. For more information about our professional organization, you may want to visit our web site at www.uis-usa.com. We are seeking full-time professional fire origin and cause investigators and forensic engineers.

The ideal fire investigator candidate will be knowledgeable in fire and explosion investigations, and in the techniques necessary to take an investigation to conclusion. He or she will possess the necessary documented training and experience to qualify as an origin and cause expert in a court of law. Certification as a “Fire Investigator” through the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) or the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI) is a plus, but is not a requirement for initial employment. UIS funds these certifications during the first year of your employment.

The forensic engineering candidate must be a licensed PE in his or her residence state. He or she will have an accredited engineering degree, will be licensed to practice engineering and will be eligible to be licensed in adjacent states without further examinations. Since our assignments can involve anything from small losses up to large and complex ones, we value engineers with a broad background.

Specific experiences in failure analysis, equipment operation, maintenance, manufacturing, overhaul, design and/or construction are all pluses. No prior experience in forensic engineering is required for this position. We will train you in the unique aspects of our business. The results of our investigations have a substantial personal and economic impact on the people involved. Our associates must, therefore, have the highest ethical standards and must tell only the objective truth in their dealings with others.

Our projects are very short compared to those of most engineering businesses and, for engineers and investigators alike, typically require one to three days of effort, spread over a few weeks. Naturally, each expert has several active projects going on at the same time and has to be able to complete projects on a timely basis in the face of multiple demands. Our associates are given wide autonomy to schedule their own working hours and projects, and in some cases work from their homes. Engineers and investigators spend a lot of time in the field and day trips occur frequently. Overnight stays, however, typically occur less than once a month and multiple-day outings are very rare.

If you have the qualifications we need, you will like the progressive and professional way we approach our business, and the opportunity to advance your career. If you are interested in joining this dynamic and professional private organization, UIS, send your resume to:
