NCISS has informed their constituents of new pending federal legislation that directly affects employers, including our field.

"The following is an update from the NCISS Legislative Committee. Please
read the following alert - it will impact most investigative agencies, as
background investigations are an important service professional
investigators provide. This introduced legislation would not allow
employers to conduct any background inquiries until a conditional offer of
employment has been presented. This is the first such legislation at the
federal level - similar legislation has been enacted at some local levels."
