Experienced Fire and Explosion Analyst

John A. Kennedy and Associates, the world’s oldest fire investigation firm, has an immediate full-time employment opening for an experienced professional fire and explosion investigator and analyst.

Kennedy and Associates specializes in the investigation of major loss/exposure fire and explosion incidents world-wide for both plaintiff and defense interests.

Our daily work is different from what many might consider as “ordinary fire investigation.” Because we specialize in high dollar value losses ($500,000+), a considerable amount of our work goes well beyond simple fire scene origin and cause investigation and frequently includes investigations by file review; extensive review of the investigations and methodologies of others; exhaustive, detailed code research and analysis; the application of in depth fire science and dynamics; fire research; products safety issues; fire litigation consultation; and fire association participation.

This is a permanent, full-time, staff position. Applicants should be willing to enter into a long term professional commitment.

Requirements for application include:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in fire investigation, fire science, fire engineering or technology, or related science or engineering fields;

Licensure or capability of being appropriately licensed to conduct fire investigations in Florida and other jurisdictions;

Certification or capability of being certified as a fire investigator and/or Fire and Explosion Investigator, Certified Fire Protection Specialist, etc;

Extensive national and international travel is required for his position;

Computer skills (including CAD and computer fire modeling);

Substantial written and verbal communication skills;

In-depth knowledge of fire science is required. A strong general math/science background is a plus;

Relocation to the Sarasota, Florida area;

Familiarity with NFPA 921;

Skills and knowledge commensurate with NFPA 1033; and

Experience and expertise in fire safety codes and standards, fire and explosion scene examination, evidence collection and preservation, basic fire scene photography and diagramming, and fire litigation issues.

Full corporate benefits include health insurance, 401K, and additional compensation bonuses based upon performance.

Compensation range is negotiable and begins at approximately $50,000 and can extent to more than $100,000. Upper range is based upon experience, expertise, and performance.
