We have the clout believe it or not Mark, the problem is getting everyone affected on board and working together. Until the ACLU, PE, PI, and the Bar Associations figure out that this affects everyone (not just their individual organizations), your right we are going to have an uphill battle. Again for everyone....Read the Fine Print of Florida's new law of who meets the legal definition of a Florida PI and must have a License {emphasis on the last words of "(g)"):
(f)The causes and origin of, or responsibility for, fires, libels, slanders, losses, accidents, damage, or injuries to real or personal property.
(g)The business of securing evidence to be used before investigating committees or boards of award or arbitration or in the trial of civil or criminal cases and the preparation therefor.
Concerning our field....Now even criminal defense experts (i.e. Arson Defense) for trials must have a PI license in Florida "or else". To my knowledge this is the only state that has gone this far, which hopefully a smart defense attorney will raise a Constitutional issue in his/her case.
