Angelo Joseph "A.J." Scardino Jr. has passed away

We have recently learned that our dear friend and colleague, fire investigator, and safety expert A.J. Scardino, P.E., Ph.D., CFEI of Pass Christian, MS. passed away on February 6, 2014 after a long illness and that he was buried in Bay St. Louis, MS on February 13, 2014. He was 79.
Some of you other old timers may remember A.J. as an innovative, ingenious, down to earth, and jovial companion. He was also an educator par excellence and one of the original NAFI CFEI training programs staff instructors. He was an original Charter member of the NAFI National Certification Board. As such, he was significantly influential in shaping the NAFI Certification Programs.
His old friends and colleagues can only hope that we will be held in as high esteem and affection.
We miss him already.
