I agree Jim. I have not seen any PI license exam that had anything to do with qualifications and knowledge for a fire investigator. Nor any statute that has any requirement for any level of knowledge or certification for a fire investigator. I do however see hugh license application fees and annual license fees. Also as in Ohio Sales Tax on Licensed PI's. These in my view are really nothing more than an income source for State Governments, and in many cases as you rightly said "to protect the 'good ole boys'", and to eliminate competition and to limit interstate commerce.
