3.3.61* Fire Dynamics. The detailed study of how chemistry,
fire science, and the engineering disciplines of fluid mechanics
and heat transfer interact to influence fire behavior.

The definition of Fire Science is:

3.3.71* Fire Science. The body of knowledge concerning the study of fire and related subjects (such as combustion, flame, products of combustion heat release, heat transfer, fire and explosion dynamics, thermodynamics, kinetics, fluid mechanics, fire safety) and their interaction with people, structures, and the environment.

The "NFPA 1033 list," through the inclusion of "fire science," implicitly expands the list to include fluid dynamics and heat transfer, To say that one has studied fire dynamics to include a sufficient level of study of these prerequisite knowledge areas of the "thermo-fluid sciences" as part of the study of fire dynamics would be disingenuous.

Fluid mechanics or dynamics is prerequisite knowledge required to understand fire dynamics. I have not seen any fire dynamics text that provides even a cursory review of fluid dynamics (outside of two paragraphs on fluid mechanics in Quintiere's Fundamentals of Fire Phenomenon). Any inclusion of other prerequisite knowledge in a fire dynamics course is assumed to be a review of previously understood fundamental knowledge.

I will endeavor to write a proposal to make sufficient changes or appendix material that, in my opinion, would provide specificity and clarity to this list.
