1998 Ford Ranger Fire

I have a vehicle with a 2.5L engine that had a driver side engine fire. The vehicle has no CC. I found a recall for certain Purolator fuel filters that may not install correctly. Does anyone out there have direct experience with this scenario? Thanks.
