FIRE INSPECTIONS OF HIGH RISE BUILDINGS

We are investigating a fatal fire in a high-rise building caused by the malfunction of a duplex receptacle. An expert examination of the building’s electrical systems after the fire revealed in excess of 200 violations of the Canadian Electrical Code. A check of the building managements records revealed that there had never been an inspection of the 12-year-old building’s electrical system. The records show that there had been numerous complaints by the tenants about faulty electrical problems but little was done to correct them.
Does anyone know of a recommended inspection procedure or a standard of care that the building’s management should have conducted on a routine basis to avoid these problems?
