Pat:
You are going to love this.
I just spoke to DPSST this morning and explained that their testing questions may elicit the correct current answers, even though they would be considered inaccurate by the 2001 edition of 921. Here was the response (paraphrased).
-->This is the public fire investigator certification based upon the adopted references of the NFC and other recognized industry publications, including the 2001 edition of NFPA 921.
I explained to the person that the information contained within the 01-921 Doc is out of date by almost 2 revision cycles and she replied:
-->Well the testing questions were bulk purchased from a clearinghouse and because the references may have changed content, they TRY to set up a revision committee every 5-6 years to discuss if any changes need to be made to the test questions. The revision committee is made up of only public fire service personnel, ususally long-standing firefighters/chiefs from this state.
So there you go. It may not be the answer I was expecting but at least I was able to elicit an answer.
