Heated Seat Fires in 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 4X4

I have a 2000 Chevy Silvrado 2500 4X4 that the driver said he turned on the seat heater and then while driving his seat kept getting hotter and hotter until he saw smoke in the cab. He stopped, climbed out and watched as his drivers seat caught fire. The cab is gutted by the fire. I have checked all the usual sites with no luck. I have seen this in other GM vehicles but not the Silverado. Anybody got any info they would like to share?
