An interesting side line to this.
In one of the evolutions we have, as part of the annual canine certification test through the Accelerant Detection Canine Association, two pieces of hard wood blocks, each 1" by 1" by 3" are impgrengated with 5 micro-liters of weathered gasoline. The wood blocks are lightly burned and used as the two double blind hides in this evolution.
I am still using the two pieces of wood for training with my canine were impregnated in April 2005 and she is still able to alert when theye are placed in blind hides today.
So, when calculating the depth of absorbtion, it may also be an interesting study to determine the length of time that saturation exists!
