This happens in shooting ranges, but in that case, there is a readily available fuel in the form of unreacted gunpowder. It's difficult to imagine that carpet without some added, easily ignited fuel would be susceptible to ignition by such a short-lived ignition source. You definitely want to send a sample of the carpet off to a lab.
