Mr. Castorena's twisted logic is laid out in his 11-page rebuttal report dated November 30, 2010 and available in my file, which you can access here.

He rebuts 10 different fire debris analysts, who were unanimous in concluding that no gasoline was demonstrated.
He is a (now thankfully retired) hack of the highest order. Given that his boss at the time was none other than Fred Zain (Google him if you don't know who he is) that is not a surprise.
Here's how smart the prosecutor who handled the end of this case is. First, he tried to get the fire marshal science advisory workgroup report suppressed. The TX AG said the fire marshal was just doing his job. Then, he reached out to me to back up Castorena's nonsense, apparently not knowing that there were three affidavits and a report that I had authored stating that no gasoline was present. The prosecutor, Mr. Ponton, finally hired Dr. Elizabeth Buc, who also concluded that Castorena was wrong.
