The attached article (a long read) discusses issues associated with Internet devices that may be implicated in the investigation of fires.

I have actually been involved in some experiments where the ignition source, a sabotaged coffee maker, was activated by a cell phone communicating with a receptacle similar to the one shown here. [www.homedepot.com]
