The District Attorney in Nashville has reviewed the evidence that convicted Claude Garrett in 1993 (and again in 2003) and found it to be unsupportive of either conviction. Sunny Eaton's report, running over 50 pages, is well worth the read. Sunny is chief of the CRU
Kudos to Stuart Bayne, who hung in there for more than 20 years, and also to the Tetra Committee, who worked pro bono to review the evidence, along with John DeHaan, Candace Ashby, and Craig Beyler. Cases this old do not get fixed without the dedication of investigative journalists. Liliana Segura, whose article can be found here [
theintercept.com] has been on the story for 6 years. Dennis Ferrier of Nashville's Fox 17 has also been looking into this case for years. [
