Bagged Peat Moss

What do you think of this?
Structure fire of a dwelling.Fire was discovered less than an hour after the owner's daughter left the home from caring for pets while the owner was out of state. Structure is significantly damaged. Fire department and Sheriffs Office label the cause of the fire as "spontaneous combustion of peat moss" which was in a sealed plastic bag on the concrete floor of the garage where it has rested for two years. Anyone care to discuss this> I have serious doubts about the findings.
Thanks
Doug
