Contaminated flood waters effect on fire scenes

In New Orleans LA the flood waters from the hurricanes of 2005 left flood waters contaminated with gasoline, kerosene and other ignitable liquids setting around the older wood framed structures of the city for two weeks or longer. There is a problem with termits damaging the wooden structures prior to the storms over the years. My question is there any research concerning the effects of the contaminated waters causing an accidental structure fire to be accelerated due to being exposed to these contaminants?
Would the contaminants remain to provide a positive lab sample for several months or years after the event?
