"Aqueous Film-Forming Foam (AFFF) and alcohol resistant foam (FFFP) fire agents extinguish fires by creating a water and/or foam barriers between the fire and oxygen which serves as the fuel to the fire. In addition to smothering Class A and B fires, the foam also acts as a barrier to suppress the release of flammable vapors."
