Thank you For the input
From what the documentary showed It apears engineering at the time it was built was aware of the static issue and designed for it.But from what Mr. bains showed the outer skin was not fully bonded and individual sheets of the skin could have built a charge on them sufficent to ignite.
The fact that Zepplin Company Engineers who investigated the crash also knew about the skin problem and kept quiet about it seems to fit the Oh Shit. we misfigured on something issue. Of course with 60 years having passed we may never truly know what they were thinking at the time.
Along with the titanic and any of the many other great tragedys It is easy for us to arm chair quarter back and come to conclusions .Lets just hope we do not create any of our own tragedys.
Personelly Having been involved with electricaland electronics work and trouble shooting for over 30 years I have seen both industrys make very bad mistakes and never go back and correct them just change the code so we no longer do it again that way.Like when the first computerised cash registers came on the market and they incisted on isolated grounds which were not properly unified and caused step voltage problems which destroyed equiptment and caused many fires during lightning storms and are still causing them.
