Re: Sony Batterries-Personal Comments

Hey Ted:
Sony is in the process right now of replacing and diagnosing my VAIO laptop with is less than 10 months old. Just recently, even though the VAIOs are not covered by the recall, the AC adpater and the battery were operating so hot I could barely touch them. To make things worse, I actually saw what I determined to be a whisp of smoke from the adapter, so I immediately unplugged my computer and took out the battery. I contacted Sony Warranty and told them what happened and my job title, and the manager immediately sent a box for the computer (and they require the AC adapter under the warranty repair) to be returned for their inspection.
I was also told by the manager that the actual problem they are having is internal to the computer with the electronics, which is causing the secondary overheat issues with the AC adapter and battery during the charge/discharge process. It is an interesting twist and something I would recommend anyone involved in potential litigation might want to research further.
I will keep you updated as things progress, and I am expecting to here back from them shortly.
Chris
