THE 2009 NATIONAL FIRE, ARSON, AND EXPLOSION INVESTIGATION PROGRAM

Monday, March 9th through Thursday, March 12, 2009
Hyatt Regency Tech Center
Denver, Colorado

Co-sponsored annually by NAFI and NFPA

This is the only internationally recognized training program of its kind dedicated to instruction according to the precepts of NFPA 921-2008 and actually sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association.

It is only through fire investigation programs sponsored by the NFPA that registrants can receive certificates on NFPA 921 instruction, authorized by the actual promulgating body of The Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigation.

The 2009 National Fire, Arson, and Explosion Training Program will cover NFPA 921s detailing of all of the subject topic areas, now required by NFPA 1033-2009 The Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator.

With the recent issuance of NFPA 1033-2009 The Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator on July 18, 2008, things have changed. Only through fire investigation programs dedicated to instruction according to the precepts of NFPA 921-2008 that meet the minimum fire investigation training and re-training requirements of 1033 such as those sponsored and co-sponsored by NAFI and NFPA, that we believe the investigator can maintain the requirements mandated by the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (Pro Board). (See 1.3.7* and 1.3.8* of NFPA 1033)

Both CFIs and CFEIs have requirements for continuing education in order to maintain their certifications and continued compliance with NFPA 1033. 1033 now requires that the fire investigator “remain current” and “maintain at a minimum an up-to-date basic knowledge of the following topics beyond the high school level at a post-secondary education level” in investigation methodology, fire protection technology, code requirements, fire science, fire chemistry, thermodynamics, thermometry, fire dynamics, explosion dynamics, computer fire modeling, fire investigation, fire analysis, and fire investigation methodology.

In addition, NFPA 1033-2009 list the sources of such information as: NFPA 921 and the NFPA’s Fire Protection Handbook.

In addition to the regular program of instruction on Monday through Thursday, there will be two special pre-program training sessions conducted on Sunday, March 8, 2009. These programs wil include the Certified Fire Investigation Instructor (CFII) program and examination, and the critically acclaimed special program of Computer Fire Modeling for the Fire Investigators.
