2009 NFPA/NAFI Advanced and Litigation Programs

The NFPA/NAFI National Fire Arson and Explosion Investigation Training Programs on Advanced Fire Investigation and Fire Litigation are fast approaching, just over three weeks away. Both programs will be held in Sarasota Florida at the Hyatt Sarasota on Sarasota Bay.

THE NATIONAL ADVANCED FIRE, ARSON, AND EXPLOSION INVESTIGATION TRAINING PROGRAM is scheduled for Monday through Wednesday August 3-5.

This year’s advanced program will focus on specialized investigative techniques and issues following the precepts of the National Fire Code, NFPA 921 - 2008, The Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations covering these advanced topics:
• Fire Investigation Dynamics
• "Negative Corpus"
• Fire Patterns Research
• Fire Dynamics for the Investigator
• Update of NFPA 921 - 2008
• The Ten Most Common Fire Scene Errors
• Advanced Origin Determination Systems
• Legal Aspects of NFPA 921 and 1033

THE NATIONAL SEMINAR ON FIRE ANALYSIS LITIGATION is scheduled for Thursday and Friday August 6 and 7.

Internationally known and respected experts in fire analysis litigation will present discussions on some of the most important and timely issues in today’s fire litigation cases. Litigation Seminar topics to include:
• National Fire Code 921
• Fire Dynamics and Computer Fire Modeling
• Spoliation of Evidence
• Exhibits
• Fire Analysis Experts
• Expert Depositions and Testimony
• The Effects of "Daubert" & "Benfield" and "Kumho/Carmichael"

There are still ample available openings for registrations for both programs. These are the only programs were professional fire investigators can get actual NFPA sponsored instruction on these important topics.

The NAFI Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) examination will be offered on Wednesday August 5 to those who qualify
