Had two identical fires on identical 2006 and 2007 MY tractors this week. Fire is in the engine compartment, on the driver's side. Both were documented as originating in nearly the same 1" area. I can only submit so many public inputs while running a business and real life. 1033 takes far less priority to those codes which directly affect the fire/life safety of the general public. I submit that the 1033 TC would be best to form their own task groups to do their jobs and police their own code before the next revision cycle. This is what the five TCs I serve on do. Chris

So John, SO according to the latest statistics published by the NFPA there are on average about 490,000 structure fires each year to which NFPA 1033 addresses. However, the latest statistics there were also avging 180,000 vehicle fires during the same timeframe (rough approx. 36%). Doug: Steve is correct. Just like everything else in life, when people use (and more importantly misuse) what used to be common definitions of words, they rewrite the definitions to meet current meanings which have little to do with the previously used 200+year definitions. You see this happening regularly in the 2A debates.
