Exemplar Merc C180 Kompressor

Attached find a photo of an exemplar.

The void between the engine block and the firewall (in front of the left wheel arch behind which the battery is housed)
seems to house the ( predominantly plastic) air intake, air filter and air mass-flow meter etc.
(in addition to the ABS system and brake lines;
the thicker braided-steel line seems to be the pressurized gas line).

What can go wrong after an hour and a half of being parked?
Even the exhaust manifold and fuse box are on the other side.
Perhaps an ignition source (mass-flow meter) inside the plastic housing smoldering?

Anybody else have a history of these models?
