NFPA Standard for Fire Investigation Units

I understand there is a new NFPA committee for fire investigation units or companies involved in fire investigations. The scope of the committee states, “This Committee shall have primary responsibility for standards relating to the development and composition of Fire Investigation Units (FIU). This committee does not have responsibility for the development of standards relating to fire investigation techniques, methodologies, or fire investigator professional qualifications.”
The first this to note is this is a standard, so it is written as a mandatory document to be followed. It is my understanding it is developing or leaning to the area of accreditation. I do not know if they are developing accreditation standards or they will be just setting what the accreditation standard should contain. I believe the committee will in the near future be putting this document out for public comment. My question is, will your organization attempt to follow this standard and meet the necessary requirements for accreditation.
