Needing advice about an arson

Hello,
On or about midnight of 05/19-20, my friend and I were the victims of an arson. Due to several factors, we're getting VERY little assistance from law enforcement on this. We are currently having to do most of the investigation and evidence collection/preservation ourselves, in the hopes that we can make it so obvious that it forces an investigation. Can anyone send me a good link of pictures of alligatoring? Also, wouldn't VERY deep, "alligator skin type" charring of boards, while other parts of the same boards (right next to the char) are totally unburned, seem to indicate an accelerant to you?
