There are studies from Osha ,Ansi and others about the potential power an arc fault(blast) can do to an individual as far as calories released heat intensity etc and recomended safety clothing and barrier protection etc.
for personel I do not know if any of these types of studeies would anser your question but it can be very amazing the amount of power behind an electrical short even 120 volts at 15 amps.
