In experiments of which I am aware, the time component is not terribly predictable. I have seen experiments using linseed oil soaked rags where smoking happened in 7 minutes and flaming happened in 12 minutes. I have personally conducted one experiment where it took 88 hours for flames to occur. You need to match the conditions exactly, and that is very difficult if you are dealing with, for example, freshly laundered restaurant linens.
