How long to save case files?

Hello,
In the past there have been lengthy discussions herein about saving or destroying notes or other case file items. How long does an investigator need to save case files. I’m probably not going to be around in 30 years and may want to “retire” in a few years. What do I do with case files? My spouse, children and grandchildren want to know? Thanks!
