I know over the years there has been much discussion in the fire investigation community about fire investigation being an art or a science. Some believe that by saying it is an art it diminishes the fire investigation community.

If one compares fire investigation to the practice of medicine you will find they are much the same type of practice. Attached is an article that may shed light onto this subject.
