If it is a consern, go to the switch located near the frame rail and under the brake power booster, and unplug the switch wire. It will de-activate your speed control. Just parking it outside will only keep your garage from burning up, it will not solve the problem. I first saw this problem in Pebble Beach, FL about 5 years or so ago.
