Jim,
I'm afraid that past presentations experience and references are of little help when the problem id pseudo-science and misinformation. We all have seen examples where the students, and even the sponsoring agencies, are not in a position to judge the quality of the instruction and course content.
Not too long ago there quite a flap about bad science and instruction on this very forum. In that flap, a prominent fire investigation organization was chided for sponsoring instruction which included terrible examples of bad science. In that case many of the students reported that they thought the content of the course, and the quality of the instructor was excellent, when in fact, much of the course content was claptrap.
