I know this is a slight side-step in this thread but,
In most instances (as Pat stated) there are a multitude of people who have had a chance to view and photograph the fire scene. One could definitely pick out the altered set of photographs simply by comparing them to the multiple other sets taken by other investigators.
However, what happens if there are only two sets of photographs of the actual fire scene (for whatever reason), and one set has been excellently digitally altered?
Has anyone ever encountered this problem? If so, what was the outcome?
