When all else fails blame the plaintiff's attorneys.

Jim, if you were having brain surgery, would you want your doctor to perform the operation according to the standard of care?

If you were building a house, would you want the electrician to perform his work according to industry standards?

If you were facing the death penalty, would you want the forensic lab to test evidence according to the standard of care?

If the standard of care in each of those examples is breached, and the breach is a proximate cause of damage, injury or death, don't you think that it would then be appropriate to sue for compensation??
