Hello,

I have a fire (investigation) involving the front passenger seat adjustment control of a 2001 530i.

The vehicle was parked when the fire occurred and the fire self-extinguished. There are melting and arcing damages to the outer lower left (as viewed from outside of vehicle) / back (with respect to the vehicle) portion of the switch.

The vehicle had been detailed shortly before the loss.

I have found forum posts on other sites with people complaining of seat adjustment problems that could indicate incipient failures.

Do you have any further information concerning your fire since the time of this post?
