I have been using [www.camerabright.com] for a while and suggested them back in November. The problem I have had is if one is mounted under the camera on the tripod spot and the lense is a bit long, you can get a shadow from the lense. To offset this, I mount the light on a small tripod and use it that way. This works for short distances. The flashlight idea is probably best for any longer distance. Another idea is to focus on an object that is the same distance and hold your focus and switch to your target object for the photo.
